SHEA FARMS 5TH ANNUAL PLOW DAY

On October 27th Shea Farms will be hosting a Plow Day for tractor enthusiast.  These plow days are hosted by antique tractor collectors all over the country in the fall and spring of the year.  Historically local farm equipment dealers would get together and host a plowing demonstration.  At these demonstrations they would furnish a tractor and plow, inviting area farmers to see the new tractors and try them in normal field conditions.  Plowing has fallen to the wayside in resent years as most farmers prefer to chisel plow or subsoil which will achieve the same result allowing more residue to remain.

Many antique tractor enthusiasts have started to also collect the equipment that was used with the tractors they have.  They like to have gatherings where they put these tractors to work.  Gatherings of this type have revived the old time plowing days of yesteryear.   In 2008 we hosted our first plow day, we had several people come by and watch and a few brought tractors and plows.  We had a great time and many people commented on the memories of a certain tractor they saw working.  We have plenty of room for tractors and plows to come and join.  The field is located approximately 2.5 miles from route 13 on Island Riffel Road just south of Junction, we will have signs pointing the way.  Shine your plow and bring your tractor, all brands are welcome.  If you don’t have a plow for your tractor we can share one of ours.  For those who don’t have a tractor or plow your welcome also, drive by watchers or stoppers are always welcome.  My website will be updated with information about the plow day www.grandpastractor.com.  In the event of inclement weather we will try again on November 3rd.  Check the website for cancellation details.

Welcome to Grandpa'sTractor.com

I named this site because of the historical importance of some of the projects that we all have.  Whether at a show or looking at a picture posted on the internet, when the tractor is one that belonged to a father, grandfather or uncle there is a special interest in that tractor.  I am very lucky to have tractors that belonged to both of my Grandpas's.  I have a 1954 John Deere 70 gas and a 1955 John Deere 70 diesel both row crops that belonged to my Grandpa on my mother's side.  I also have a 1937 John Deere A that belonged to my Grandpa on my father's side.  I am in the process of restoring all three but currently have the 70's running and just getting started on the A.  When I get to use the 70's plowing or disking there is just an awesome feeling of owning and operating a tractor that my Grandpa operated and then my father and now me.  Because of this feeling and history I have named this site for all of us whom own or would like to own our grandpa's tractor.

Feel free to look around, I have a couple of blogs to provide some information and discussion about your projects and mine.  I also have blogs and store items that are specific to hard to find parts, along with information about hard to find parts.  I have a store category for the John Deere Pony Motor, Case 1030, Allis Chalmers 220, and Lighting Equipment for all makes and models.  I am working on a 1030 Case and  some parts are hard to find and some are no longer available but some can be bought from other sources such as Deere or Allis.

When you make a purchase from our store you will see we use PayPal for payment processing.  I choose PayPal for your security and piece of mind.  Everyday I read a story of how someone's identity or information was stolen and used illegally.  I do not want this to happen to any of our customers, when we use PayPal we do not get any information from your credit card or bank account.  This information is held by PayPal and basically what I get is your name, address, and shipping comments.  I want your information to be secure and safe, and this is the safest I can make it.

Our goal is to bring you quality aftermarket parts at affordable prices for your tractor projects or your everyday work tractor.  We are constantly adding new products so come back often.  If you don't see the item you're looking for I may have it, or I may know where you can get it, send me an e-mail.

You will see many pictures on the menus of tractors these may be pictures that I have taken at shows or a picture from the net that I liked.  If any of these are your pictures and you want me to remove them feel free to email me and I will remove the picture.  If the picture is yours and you like it here, Thank you very much for allowing us to use it.
